Mumbai: Late Smita Patil, who was born on October 17, had carved a niche for herself in Bollywood with her versatile acting skills and charming looks.
A few years ago on her birthday, Amitabh Bachchan, who has worked with Smita in several films, shared an incident remembering the actress.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, recalling the incident, Amitabh said that during the making of ‘Coolie’, Smita had called him in the middle of the night at around 2 am to check on his heath.
Reportedly, Smita had a premonition ahead of Big B’s accident on the sets on ‘Coolie’. So, she had called the actor to check if he was fine.
The very next day, Amitabh had a terrible accident on the sets of ‘Coolie’ and he landed at the hospital. The actor had to undergo multiple surgeries and was even declared clinically dead for a few minutes before being put on the ventilator.
“I was in Bangalore shooting for Coolie. Late into the night at around 2 am I received call in my hotel room. The receptionist informed me that it was Smita Patil on the line. I was shocked as I had never spoken or talked to her at such a time. Thinking that it would be important one, I answered,” said Amitabh, talking about the incident.
“Smita asked me if I was alright and in good health. I answered yes and she said that she just had a bad dream about me and that’s the reason behind calling up so late in the night. The next day I had my accident,” he said.
Amitabh and Smita have worked in films such as ‘Namak Halaal’ and ‘Shakti’.
Smita died at the age of 31, days after giving birth to her son Prateek Babbar.
