Chennai: Trisha Krishnan has once again been dragged into politics, this time by an AIADMK leader through a snide remark.
Days after Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin sparked controversy for making double-meaning remarks on Trisha, another Opposition leader has triggered a row over remarks on the actress, who is a close friend of chief minister Vijay.
Former minister RB Udhayakumar mocked Vijay, posing the question as to when Trisha will be appointed the state’s deputy CM.
“Tamil Nadu awaits to see when Vijay’s Trisha will be appointed as Deputy Chief Minister,” Udhayakumar said in a viral video.
Udhayakumar alleged that the TVK government was appointing people close to Vijay to key positions, including producers and technical crew members who had worked with the actor in his films.
He listed several appointments, including those to the posts of temple trustee, the Tamil Nadu government’s special representative in New Delhi, Vijay’s personal secretary, head of the state film training institute and government advisors.
Udhayakumar’s comments sparked protests from Trisha’s fans and also drew criticism from TVK leaders. Members of Trisha Fans’ Welfare Association put up condemnation posters across parts of Madurai.
A TVK functionary filed a complaint with Tuticorin district police seeking action against Udhayakumar for alleged derogatory remarks on Trisha.
Former CM M K Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi was arrested a week ago and questioned by police in Thanjavur for making double-meaning remarks referring to Trisha.
He was nabbed following a complaint filed by a TVK Central District Women’s Wing organiser, filed a complaint at Thanjavur East Police Station over remarks Udhayanidhi made at an anti-Cauvery protest meeting in Thanjavur on August 3.
Udhayanidhi was taken to Sengipatti police station, and questioned for about an hour before being released on station bail.
It remains to be seen whether Udhayakumar faces similar action.
After all, TVK leader and minister Aadhav Arjuna had defended police action against Udhayanidhi, and said tough action will be taken against anyone making comments against women.
