Where Should Your Young Ones Camp This Summer!

Bhubaneswar: Early summer vacation means more fun and loads of extra time to invest in recreational, creative and fun activities. Keeping this in mind, summer camps, internships and workshops are organised every year for kids, young boys and girls.

Summer Chess IM Coaching Camp

This is the first time in Odisha that chess players can exhibit their knowledge of chess at a summer camp in Bhubaneswar. The camp, registration of which is underway, will be held for four days, from May 17 to 20. Open to all rated players, the camp will be organised from 10am to 5pm at Community Hall in Kanan Vihar here.

Study of classical games, method of opening preparation, process of calculation, time management and use of chessbase, technology and Internet will be taught to the chess players.

Asian Junior silver medalist IM Swayangsu Satyapragyan and Commonwealth U-20 silver medalist IM Swayams Mishra are the mentors at these camps.

St. Mary’s Little Steps

St. Mary’s Little Steps School, a play school at Nageshwar Tangi here, is organising a summer camp from April 25. Kids from play groups to Standard VI can join this camp, which will be held from 7.45am to 10am.

The kids will learn creative activities including art and craft, pottery design, thumb printing and clay art here.

At the camp, indoor games, fun activities, brain development programmes, adventure and fun with English will be conducted during the summer camp.

“We have been organising this summer camp to engage the students and make them physically and mentally active,” said Rashmita Senapati, a teacher at St. Mary’s Little Steps School.

Happy Hours School

This school is organising a summer camp from May 3 to 15. There will be two sessions, Zig-Zag and Happy Strings.

The Zig-Zag session will conduct programmes to help exercise children’s oral, written and creative skills. In the Happy Strings session, children will be taught about art and craft.

Summer Experience in Kala Bhoomi

At Kala Bhoomi, in the state’s capital, children as well as youth can get knowledge on terracotta, straw craft, handlooms, Pattachitra and palm leaf etching. The summer camp here will be held from May 6 to June 9.

There will be three groups i.e. Pre-Teens (9 to 11 years), Teens (12 to 15 years) and Young Adults (over 16 years). Those interested to join can register at www.odishacraftmuseum.com by April 27.

English Language Academy (ELA)

ELA, located in Saheed Nagar, is providing summer training to kids. The camp will be held from May 1 to 23.

They will impart English communication, art and craft and dance and drama skills to two groups. One group is from LKG to Standard 1 and another from Standard-2 to Standard-3. Registration for this camp is on till April 27.
