Mumbai: Even as fans are eagerly waiting for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’, reports are doing the rounds that his ‘Jawan’ co-star Deepika Padukone has been roped in to play his lady love in the upcoming film.
According to a report in PeepingMoon.com, Deepika will be playing Shah Rukh’s ex-flame and Suhana Khan’s mother in Siddharth Anand’s ‘King.’
Although Deepika’s role is just an extended cameo, the makers expect her amazing on-screen chemistry with SRK to do wonders for the film.
‘King’ will mark SRK and Deepika’s third consecutive collaboration after their recent blockbusters ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan.’
If reports are to be believed, Shah Rukh and Deepika are expected to team up for Yash Raj Films’ ‘Pathaan 2’ also.
Produced by Marflix Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘King’ is apparently a revenge action thriller, made on the lines of Bobby Deol and Rani Mukerji’s 2000 film ‘Bichhoo.’
It is speculated that Shah Rukh will be playing the role of a seasoned assassin, who sets out on a vengeful journey along with Suhana’s character after a tragedy strikes them.
Sources have also revealed that after Siddharth Anand donned the director’s cap, the script of ‘King’ has undergone substantial revisions.
Abhishek Bachchan and ‘Munjya’ fame actor Abhay Verma will also feature in ‘King’.
Pre-production work is on full swing, and the film is expected to hit screens next year.
