Chennai: BJP’s Tamil Nadu state president K Annamalai is absolutely livid with the DMK government for the manner in which it has handled the Anna University student’s sexual harassment case.
So much so that Annamalai lost his composure while addressing the media in Coimbatore on Thursday.
A visibly agitated Annamalai slammed the MK Stalin-helmed government for the deteriorating law and order in the state and removed his shoes, vowing not to wear those until the present dispensation is overthrown in the state.

“Till the DMK government is overthrown, I will walk barefoot. I’m requesting the people, please look into all this… As always, we are not going to be giving money to win elections. We will fight elections without distributing any money. I won’t wear a chappal until the DMK government goes out,” Annamalai said.
He also promised to flog himself six times outside his residence in Coimbatore on Friday to “take down all the evil”.
Annamali further announced that he would fast for 48 days to go to all six holy abodes of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu.
At the press conference, called by the BJP to address concerns in connection with the sexual assault of a 19-year-old student at Anna University, Annamalai lashed out at the state police for “leaking” the FIR which revealed the engineering student’s identity.

Condemning the police for writing the FIR in a manner that shamed the victim, Annamalai alleged that a repeat offender like Gnanasekharan — the accused in the sexual assault case — was not on the cops’ rowdy list because of his connection with DMK leaders.
He reiterated his stand that the accused is a DMK functionary and provided ‘proof’ — photos and pamphlets linking the 37-year-old with DMK leaders.
