Bhubaneswar: Some parts of western Odisha may experience the first spell of colder nights this week as the night temperature is likely to fall with northwesterly dry cold winds blowing into the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a 2-3°C drop in the minimum (night) temperature across the state over the next two days.”The night temperature may fall by 2-3°C during the next 2 days with no large change thereafter,” the weather agency said in its midday bulletin on Monday.
The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm at one or two places in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri till Tuesday morning, following which dry weather may prevail across the state.
Besides the approaching western disturbance, which will bring in dry and cold north-westerly winds, the recent cloud cover under the influence of the severe cyclone Montha and easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal may also reduce from Monday, leading to clearer skies and cooler nights, according to weather experts.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 34.2°C was recorded at Gajapati’s Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 18°C was recorded at Daringbadi in Kandhamal district.
