Berhampur: As winter eases in Odisha, schools in Ganjam district are set to return to their regular morning schedule for Saturday classes.
The District Education Office has cancelled the day-shift arrangement and directed all government and aided elementary and secondary schools to resume regular morning Saturday classes.
In mid-December 2025, the Ganjam district administration shifted Saturday classes to the daytime slot, typically running from 10 am to 4 pm, citing widespread cold wave conditions and low morning temperature. The change was implemented to protect students from exposure to harsh early-morning chill. It was also adopted across several districts, including Cuttack, Jajpur, and Bhadrak, where the timings were temporarily revised to prioritise student safety amid fog, cold snaps, and dropping temperatures.
