Winter Session Of Odisha Assembly To Begin From November 21
Bhubaneswar: The winter session of the Odisha Assembly is scheduled to start from November 21.
The Odisha Legislative Assembly, in a notification on Saturday, stated that the 14th session (winter session) of the 16th Assembly will commence on November 21. The session would continue till December 30.
As per the provisional calendar of the Assembly, the winter session will have total 30 business days. While the House will transact official business for 23 days, six days have been reserved for Private Members’ Business (Bills and Resolutions).
The Assembly will remain closed on the occasion of Rasa Purnima on November 27 and Christmas on December 25. The Assembly will also not meet on November 25 and 26, the calendar stated.
The winter session may be the last session of the Assembly before the state goes to General Elections in 2024, according to sources.
It may be noted that the monsoon session of the Assembly had ended a day ahead of schedule on October 4.
Thirteen bills, including the supplementary appropriation bill 2023, were passed without any discussion during the session. The supplementary budget of Rs 28,200 crore was also passed in the House.
The monsoon session began on September 22 with the election of Pramila Mallik as its new Speaker.
