Woman Among Five Held For Fish Trader’s Murder In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Five persons, including a woman, were arrested here on Thursday in connection with the December 18 murder of fish trader Rabi Singh under Sahadebkhunta police station area of the district.

The accused have been identified as Sheikh Yusuf, his mother Majeda Bibi and their associates Sheikh Ramzan, Sheikh Lal, and Sheikh Amir.

They reportedly stabbed Singh several times on his chest with a knife on the night of December 18 before fleeing the spot. Singh later died of his injuries.

Singh’s brother had filed a complaint with the police. Sahadevkhunta police sources said the accused found Singh sitting near the railway tracks at Galapola, when they launched an attack on him over some past enmity. He was rushed to the Fakir Mohan Medical College where he was declared dead.

The bail plea of the accused was rejected and they were remanded in judicial custody.

Police seized the murder weapon, a mobile phone and one bike from the possession of the accused.
