Rourkela: A woman attacked a youth with stone after he allegedly attempted to rape her 11-year-old daughter in Plant Site area here on Tuesday.
The youth, Santu (30), was admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital with critical head injuries. He was later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla when his condition deteriorated.
According to sources, Santu had forcefully entered the house when the woman’s two minor daughters were alone. He then attempted to rape the elder one.
Two minor daughters of the woman were alone at their house. Taking advantage of the situation, Santu allegedly entered into their house forcefully and attempted rape to her elder daughter.
Alerted by her screams, neighbours rushed to the house and rescued the girl. Santu, however, managed to escape.
When the woman learnt about the incident, she traced Santu and attacked him with a stone. She also lodged a police complaint.
Police said they were investigating the matter.
