Woman Flees Hospital After Testing COVID Positive; Husband Files Missing Report To Mislead Cops
New Delhi: A 20-year-old woman, who tested positive for coronavirus at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, allegedly escaped from the hospital, while her husband filed a missing person’s complaint, the police said on Wednesday.
The woman visited AIIMS on October 18 as she was not feeling well. She got herself tested for coronavirus, and the report was positive, police informed.
The hospital staff recommended she get admitted to the dedicated COVID centre, but she fled from there, PTI reported. The husband, despite knowing her whereabouts, filed a report alleging his wife had gone missing.
During investigation, police found out that the woman had gone to her rented house in south Delhi’s Zamrudpur village. Fearing that she would be caught, she left for her maternal house.
“Her relatives, however, said that she had not reached her maternal house,” a police official said.
The husband, police said, was aware of his wife’s location. He lodged the complaint in order to mislead the cops.
A case has been registered for ‘disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant’ and ‘negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life’ at the Greater Kailash Police Station.
“The matter is being investigated and teams have been formed to trace the couple,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said.
