Woman Maoist Surrenders Before Odisha DGP; Abhay Visits BSF Camp In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A woman Maoist cadre on Sunday surrendered before before the Director General of Police (DGP), Abhay Kumar, in Sunabeda area of Koraput district.

Identified as Phulabati Ushendi, she was carrying Rs 4 lakh cash reward her head.

She had joined the organisation in 2008 and was working as ACM of Khadag Area Committee in KKBN division. She is suspected to be involved in violence by Maoists during the 2019 General Elections.

The DGP urged Maoists to shun violence, join the mainstream and take advantage of the rehabilitation measures being offered for them.

On the occasion Abhay presented DGP’s Disc to Koraput SP and 10 personnel of the district.

The DGP later left for Malkangiri where he visited the Ghanabeda area in ‘Swabhiman Anchal’. A new camp of Company Operating Base (COB) of Border Security Force (BSF) has been set up at Ghanabeda under Panasput gram panchayat.

Speaking about the progress of the camp site, he commended the good work of BSF and Odisha Police personnel for setting it up in a few days. DGP along with officers visited the site of construction of bridge and also went to the different sides of reservoir.

During the visit, Abhay also inaugurated new building of Pottangi police station in Koraput in the presence of Pottangi MLA, Koraput SP and other senior police officers.
