Berhampur: A woman and her nine-year-old son drowned in Ghodahada river near Panad village under Digapahandi block in Ganjam district on Saturday.
According to available information, the child had gone to take bath in the river near the village when he slipped and fell into the water body.
Hearing screams, her mother rushed to the spot. However, she also met the same fate while attempting to rescue her son from the deep waters.
Later, a team of fire officials, whom villagers informed about the incident, started a rescue operation and fished out the bodies from the deep waters.
