Malkangiri: After relatives and friends refused to help, a woman in Odisha’s Malkangiri district had to perform the last rites of her husband wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
According to reports, Krushna Chandra of Mandapali village, under Mathili block, fell ill a few days ago. He was admitted to Jeypore hospital, before being shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput.
Doctors conducted a COVID-19 test on him, but the report was negative.
With Nayak’s health not improving, doctors advised his family to shift him to Visakhapatnam. On the way to Visakhapatnam, however, Nayak breathed his last.
His body was brought back to their native village, but relatives didn’t cooperate with his wife, thinking he had died of coronavirus.
Nayak’s wife was left with no option but to perform the last rites by following all COVID-19 protocols.
