Kakatpur: A woman bit off the tongue of a youth after he tried to rape her inside an Ashram in Kakatpur in Odisha’s Puri district.
Sources said the youth had barged into the ashram, which is located about 50 metres from the Kakatpur police station, on Wednesday night. He then knocked on the door of the woman’s room. As soon as she opened the door, the youth tried to rape her by gagging her mouth. The woman, while resisting the rape attempt, bit off the tongue of the youth who ran away from the area.

The woman lodged a complaint with Kakatpur police on Friday. Police have seized the severed tongue from the Ashram and started an investigation.
