Jajpur: A woman was allegedly abducted, tied up, and gang-raped by miscreants while returning from work in Odisha’s Jajpur town area.
Though the incident reportedly took place on the night of April 22, it came to light on April 26 after the survivor lodged a complaint with the police.
As per the police complaint, the woman was waiting for a vehicle to go home after work at Gandhi Chhak when an auto-rickshaw driver offered to drop her near her house.
However, the auto-rickshaw driver and two youths already in the vehicle took her to an isolated place on the outskirts of Jajpur town, where three other men were waiting. Most of them were drunk. The woman was allegedly raped, thrashed, and stabbed with a knife by the miscreants.
The woman managed to escape and sought help from a local, who informed her family. She was admitted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospita (DHH) in a critical condition with severe injuries on her back, hands, and other parts of her body.
The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused persons.
