Rayagada: In a tragic incident, a woman sarpanch died after being bitten by a snake at a village in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Sunday.
As per information, the incident took place in Kulisadar Panchayat where sarpanch Mangi Kadaraka was bitten by a poisonous snake in the wee hours while she was asleep.
She was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Rayagada. Despite receiving treatment, she succumbed after battling for nearly one and a half hours.
Her husband Suri claimed that ambulance reached after one hour though he had immediately informed the authorities.
Following the incident, Suri Kadraka filed a complaint with the police. An investigation has been launched, although no official response could be obtained from the ambulance driver regarding the delay.
The untimely demise of the sarpanch has shocked the local community. Several leaders, including former Rajya Sabha Member N Bhaskar Rao, expressed deep grief over her passing and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
