Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her younger brother and elder sister during the funeral of a relative in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Majhipada village under the jurisdiction of Govindpur police station of the district in the afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Lina Sahoo.
Sources said the siblings were attending the funeral of their father’s elder brother when a heated argument erupted over some family issue.
The verbal altercation soon turned violent, following which the two accused persons allegedly attacked Lina with a knife, leaving her critically injured.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Bamra Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared her dead.
After getting information about the incident, a team from Govindpur police station reached the spot and launched an investigation.
As per local residents, Lina’s siblings were annoyed over her presence at the funeral ceremony as they had some family dispute. However, the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
