Woman Worker Found Hanging In Anganwadi Centre 2 Months After Son’s Suicide In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: Two months after an Anganwadi worker’s minor son allegedly committed suicide, she was found hanging in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
The woman, identified as Sabita Mohanty of Hansipatna village under Soro police limits in the district, was working in the Anganwadi centre of the village for the last 8 years. Since the death of her 17-year-old son, she was under depression, sources said.
On the day, Sabita had gone to the Anganwadi centre as usual in the morning and did her work. After the centre was closed, the children returned home. But Sabita did not come back to her house.
Worried by the delay on the part of Sabita to return, her family members started searching for her. Later, they along with villagers went to the Anganwadi centre which was locked from outside.
The villagers broke open the door to find Sabita hanging from the ceiling fan inside the Anganwadi centre. They rushed her to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Soro. But she was declared brought dead by the doctors.
On being informed, a team from Soro police station went the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. They also registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
