Koraput: The Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput, organized a workshop on “Fine Tuning Research Planning” on its campus at Sunabeda on Saturday.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Vice0Chancellor of CUO, Prof I Ramabrahmam.
The VC highlighted the importance of planning in research work in any university. “The quality of research work directly augments and enhances the quality of teaching and learning in the any higher educational institution which can benefit the students, the society and the country. A research plan allows finding new knowledge and dig deeper to discover things and learn about new happenings,” he said.
He assured that the workshop will enhance the research capabilities of the scholars and faculty members of the university and help them publish articles in international publication by which the author along with the university will get visibility around the globe.
The workshop was conducted by eminent resource person Vishal Gupta, Customer Consultant, South Asia, Elsevier, a world-leading provider of information solutions to enhance the performance of science, health and technology.
Prof P Durga Prasad, visiting professor of Sociology; Prof. Sharat Kumar Palita, Dean, School of Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources and Chairman of the Workshop were present.
Gupta highlighted different tools and techniques and their applications in research planning. “Research starts with an idea. You can read about it whether the idea is new. It can be available in a click on your computer by using Scopus,” he said.
Prof Palita explained the importance of research in different subject areas in higher educational institutions and use of different research software, modern methods, particularly Scopus and Mendeley.
“Many institutions are judged by its quality of research. We must develop our standard of research and know different tools and methods used to publish in international publications,” he said.
Prof Prasad gave importance to quality research. “Quality of research will be looked by many suspicious eyes. So, a researcher must enhance the knowledge and standard for good research,” he added.
Visiting Professors, all faculty and research scholars of the university participated in the workshop, which ended with a question-answer session.
