World Record: Bihar Boy First Cricketer To Smash Triple Ton On First-Class Debut

Kolkata: Very few would have heard of Sakibul Gani. But after what he achieved in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Mizoram on Friday, Sakibul is bound to feature in the headlines.

The 22-year-old, making his Ranji debut for Bihar, became the first cricketer to smash a triple century on first-class debut. Sakibul scored 341 runs in 405 balls, hitting 56 fours and two sixes.

The previous record was also held by an Indian, when Ajay Rothera of MP scored 267 in the Ranji match against Hyderabad in 2018.

Sakibul came in to bat when Bihar were reeling at 71 for 3. He went on to add 538 runs for the fourth wicket with Babul Kumar (229 not out) as Bihar amassed 686 for 5 declared.

Sakibul had earlier made his List A debut for Bihar in 2019 and played for the state team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earlier this season.
