Wrong Blood Transfusion Claims Woman’s Life In Odisha’s Rourkela
Rourkela: A woman suffering from sickle cell disease allegedly died after being administered wrong group blood at Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) on Thursday.
The matter came to light after a complaint was filed at Raghunathpalli police station by her family members. The girl has been identified as Sarojini Kak of Budakata village in Kutra block of Sundargarh district.
Sarojini was suffering from sickle cell anaemia was admitted to RGH on Sunday. She was in need of O positive blood but the hospital staff allegedly administered her B positive blood leading to the unfortunate incident.
The family members have accused the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff of medical negligence which claimed Sarojini’s life.
Deputy Superintendent of RGH said an investigation has been ordered and strict action will be taken against all the defaulters.
