Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded yellow warning for 20 districts of Odisha till 7 pm on Monday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur in Keonjhar, Balasore, Cuttack, Kandhamala, Ganjam, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Khurda, Koraput, Balangir, Deogarh, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Dhenkanal and Bhadrak districts during this period. Light rain/thundershower warning has also been issued for Kalahandi, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and Puri districts till 6 pm. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places.
The weather agency has also issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning may occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Balangir and Bargarh till 8.30 am on Tuesday. Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places across the state.
Bhubaneswar may also experience partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower.
Thunderstorm with lightning may continue at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts during the subsequent 24 hours.
While there is no weather warning thereafter, light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue across the state till October 6.
The state may again experience another wet spell with a low-pressure area likely to form over west-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around October 6, according to IMD’s extended weather outlook for Odisha.
