Balangir: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman engineer her on promise of marriage in Odisha’s Balangir district.
According to police sources, while the woman was working in minor irrigation department at Titlagarh in the district, she came in contact with the youth, Asish Kumar Padhi, who was serving as technical consultant in the block office.
Since they were working in the same office, their relationship developed. As they came closer, the couple lived together. They had also physical relationship as Asish had promised to marry the woman.
A few days back, the engineer came to know that Asish had got engaged to another girl and confronted him. While she wanted him to break the engagement and marry her as per his promise, Asish said he would not marry her she belonged to tribal community.
Feeling cheated by her lover, the woman engineer filed a complaint at Titlagarh police station against Asish. On the basis of the complaint, police arrested Asish and forwarded him to court on Saturday.
