Kataka: A youth was critically injured after he allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a water tank on the premises of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Kataka city on Tuesday.
The youth, identified as Rajesh Parida from Jajpur and aged around 21 years, had gone to the psychiatry department of the hospital for a check-up. He is reported to be a patient with mental illness history.
According to information, he suddenly climbed a water tank inside the hospital campus. Despite prolonged efforts by hospital staff and others to persuade him to come down, he refused and jumped from the top.
Following the incident, he was immediately rushed to the trauma casualty in a critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital said his condition remained serious. Further details are awaited.
