Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a youth has been arrested for allegedly impregnating his minor cousin sister in Ghasipura area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
The disturbing incident came to light when the girl, a Class VIII student of a government-run residential school, was found to be pregnant during medical examination.
The school authorities promptly reported the matter to the Ghasipura Police Station. During questioning by the police, the girl informed the cops that she had gone home during school holidays a few weeks ago. During her stay at the village, her cousin brother had allegedly established physical relations with her, she told the police.
Based on the statement of the girl, the police registered a case under Case No. 340/25 and launched an investigation into the matter. The accused youth was arrested and taken into custody. Further investigation is in progress to gather evidence.
The incident has sparked outrage in the area, raising serious concerns over the safety and protection of young girls.
