Cuttack: A day after being allegedly kidnapped from CDA area in Odisha’s Cuttack city, a youth was rescued by Bhapur police from a closed room at a filling station near Nimichira village in Odisha’s Dhenkanal on Sunday.
The abducted youth has been identified as Doleswar Nayak, a native of Pallahara in Angul district. He was working in a finance company in Cuttack and staying in Sector-8 of CDA. His alleged kidnappers have been detained for questioning.
While returning home around 12.30 am on Saturday, Doleswar’s motorcycle hit an SUV near Bell View Chhak, leading to the scuffle. The occupants of the four-wheeler allegedly thrashed him with his helmet, later bundled him into the vehicle and speed away. They also snatched away his two mobile phone and purse, sources said.
Doleswar, however, had three phones and managed to share his live location through Whatsapp with a friend, who then lodged a complaint with Markat Nagar police. “On being informed about the kidnapping, a police team tracked the movement of the miscreants and nabbed them in Dhenkanal,” a senior officer of Bhapur police station said.
