Balangir: An alleged love triangle led to the killing of a youth in Odisha’s Balangir district, recently.
Police have apprehended two persons, including the childhood friend of the deceased identified as Kunja Majhi, a resident of Dumerchuan village in Kantabanji area of the district.
According to police sources, Kunja was beaten to death with an iron rod by his childhood friend Satya Nag and his associate Shankar Gharsel on June 20 night following a dispute which stemmed from a phone call. Satya used to talk to his girlfriend of two years using Kunja’s mobile phone. Later he came to know that Kunja had also started talking to his girlfriend without his knowledge. Following which, he warned him to stay away from his girlfriend. When Kunja refused to pay heed to his warning, Satya plotted to eliminate him.

The matter came to the fore on June 29 when locals found the gunny bag inside the deserted well and alerted police, who then recovered the body and started an investigation.
