Paralakhemundi: Taking selfie atop a stationary train at the railway station here proved fatal for a youth on Wednesday evening.
According to sources, the youth climbed atop a bogey of the train and was taking selfie when he came in contact with overhead live wire. He was critically injured due to electrocution and rushed to the nearest hospital. He succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
The youth was identified as 17-year-old Surya Kumar of Goura Chandra Sahi in Paralakhemundi, police said.
As the bogey of the train also caught fire in the incident, Fire personnel brought the fire under control.
Though plying of train is yet to be restored on Naupada-Gunupur line, the Corona Special Train was stationed at Paralakhemundi railway station in Gajapati district for the last few days, the sources said.
