Rouyrkela: A 22-year-old youth on Monday allegedly killed his father in Odisha’s Roukela to avenge the death of his mother.
The accused has been identified as Bishnu Barma of Bhalupatra village under Brahmani Tarang police limits.
According to sources, police have detained Bishnu and he has confessed to killing his father, Kranti Kumar Barma (55), who had earlier served a jail term for his wife’s murder.
Kranti Kumar walked out of jail in December 2024.
Bishnu reportedly told police that his father, since being released from jail, has been assaulting him and also harassing women in the village. Further investigation is underway.
This is the fifth murder in the Steel City in the last one week.
