Bhawanipatna: A youth sustained critical bullet injuries when unidentified miscreants fired on him at Trilochanpur village under Lanjigarh tehsil in Kalahandi district late on Sunday.
The victim identified as Soubhagya Gaud was hit on his stomach and back. He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after his condition deteriorated.

According to available information, Soubhagya had gone to answer nature’s call to a field near his house when a group of miscreants opened fire on him and fled.
On being alerted about the incident, Lanjigarh police reached the spot and started investigation after collecting statements of the locals, who suspect the attack to be the fallout of a past rivalry.
