Puri: In a shocking incident, a youth was allegedly stripped and thrashed mercilessly by a group of people on the road in Chandanpur area of Odisha’s Puri district. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
According to information, the incident took place near Jalakabar Square under the jurisdiction of Chandanpur police station in the district.
Locals said youth was allegedly thrashed for misbehaving with a mentally ill woman. However, the exact reason behind the assault is yet to be ascertained.
After receiving information about the incident, a team from Chandanpur police station visited the spot, rescued the youth and sent him to hospital. The identity of the victim is yet to be established.
Besides recording the statement of the youth, police are also questioning local residents as part of the investigation into the incident.
