YouTuber Arrested In Bhubaneswar For Derogatory Post Against Woman

Bhubaneswar: A YouTuber has been arrested in Odisha capital for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against a woman on his Facebook page (SocialTalks), which he describes as a media/news company.

The accused, identified as Priti Prakash Nayak (26) of Abulapura under Nandipur police station in Keonjhar district, is currently residing at Niladri Vihar here.

According to police sources, the accused passed distasteful comments on a video message posted by the woman on some personal issue on social media on March 12 by tagging it with an intention to humiliate her. He also threatened the woman when she raised an objection.

On March 23, the woman lodged a complaint with Chandrasekharpur police, which registered a case under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and Section 66 (C)/67 of the IT Act and arrested him on Friday.

“The accused has confessed to the crime. We have produced him before a local court. Further investigation is on,” said the official.
