Bhubaneswar: Journalist-turned-YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra has stirred a controversy with a curse claim on Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri.

In a YouTube short doing the rounds, Shubhankar can be heard speaking about a popular belief that unmarried couples, who visit the 12th-century shrine risk separation and may also find it difficult to get married. He attributed it to a curse given by Radha Rani.

According to the YouTuber, Radha Rani was denied entry into the temple to witness Lord Jagannath avatar of Lord Krishna by the servitors, who argued that even His wives were not permitted inside. “The denial infuriated Radha Rani, prompting her to place a curse upon the temple: no unmarried couple would ever be able to enter its premises, and anyone who managed to do so would find their love doomed to failure,” Shubhankar claimed.

His statement has sparked strong backlash. Devotees of Lord Jagannath and temple servitors have condemned the remark as misleading and disrespectful, warning that it could create unnecessary confusion among pilgrims and visitors.

On social media, devotees and users have demanded an immediate clarification from Shubhankar regarding his comments.
