Mumbai: Late Zarine Khan’s daughter, Farah Khan Ali slammed media for focusing and questioning her mother’s cremation as per Hindu rituals.
Zarine passed away on November 7, and her last rites were performed by her son, Zayed Khan as per Hindu traditions. Since she was married to actor Sanjay Khan, who hailed from a Muslim family, her cremation as per Hindu customs left tongues wagging.
Voicing concern over public scrutiny of her mother’s last rites, Farah urged sensitivity and respect for grieving families. “My mother passed away six days ago, and there were some who were more interested in why she chose to be cremated instead of offering condolences. (sic)” Farah shared on her Instagram stories.
Referring to Dharmendra’s hospitalisation incident, she wrote, “Dharam uncle is in the hospital, and a video of his personal family goes viral (sic).”
Questioning the rising insensitivity within society, she wrote, “Are we as a nation so insensitive? Don’t public figures also have families with feelings? What happened to humanity? Why does every imbecile out here have an opinion on how others should lead their lives? (sic)”
“Tragedy strikes all. When it’s your turn, and trust me, it will be there will be others like you hurting you the way you hurt us (sic),” she added.

Born into a Parsi family and married into a Muslim household, Zarine had reportedly been practising Hinduism for many years before her death. Her son performed her last rites according to her wishes.
Earlier, while paying tribute to her mother, Farah described her as the “epitome of humanity.”
“My mother, Zarine Khan, was a very special woman. Her philosophy of life was to ‘forgive and forget.’ She was kind-hearted, loved by all, and cared deeply for everyone around her. Born a Parsi, married as a Muslim, and cremated according to Hindu rites—she epitomised humanity. She was the bond that held our family together, and her legacy is something we hope to live by,” Farah wrote.
Zarine’s funeral was attended by her husband Sanjay Khan, her children Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan, and several other celebrities, including her former son-in-law Hrithik Roshan.
