Bengaluru: Almost a week after a Bengaluru-based woman accused a Zomato delivery executive of assaulting her, city police have lodged an FIR against the complainant.
The first FIR was registered on March 10 based on a complaint by Hitesha Chandranee against the delivery executive, Kamaraj.
The new FIR is based on the complaint filed by Kamaraj, who has in turn has accused Hitesha of abusing and hitting him.
Police have booked Hitesha under various IPC sections including 341 (wrongful restraint), 355 (assault or criminal force), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Kamraj’s Version
In his police complaint, Kamaraj said he had gone to deliver food to Hitesha around 4.50 pm on March 9. Histesha, however, was angry over her order being delayed and got into a fight with him. He also stated that she stopped him from leaving her house and then hit his left hand repeatedly with her sandals.
Hitesha’s Version
On March 10, Hitesha made an Instagram video in which she accused Kamaraj of assaulting her, which caused an injury on the nose. Hitesha’s video went viral prompting the food delivery app to initiate an action.
Based on her complaint, police had booked Kamaraj under IPC sections 504 (intentional insult) and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt).
Zomato Response
Pending investigation, Kamaraj was suspended from Zomato, Quint reported.
In a statement, the company said, “We spoke to Hitesha as soon we got (news of) the escalation, met her and offered our complete support. We’re in constant touch with her. As per our protocol, we’ve suspended the delivery partner from our platform pending investigation. Our team has been with him throughout and we’ll ensure due process is followed”.
