Balangir: A motorcyclist was killed and another critically injured after a petrol laden tanker hit the two-wheeler in Odisha’s Balangir district on Thursday.
According to sources, a tanker carrying petrol was travelling on National Highway (NH) 26, when it collided with the bike near Kerameli square under Saintala police limits.
The individual riding the motorcycle instantly died on the spot, while a pillion sustained critical injuries. Locals spotted the accident and informed Saintala police. The injured person has been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Saintala.
The tanker overturned to the side of the road after the accident. Fire Service team arrived at the spot and is trying to retrieve the damaged tanker. Vehicles have been restricted from travelling on that stretch of NH 26, till possible spillage of petrol due the crash is cleared. Saintala police have seized the motorcycle and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
