10,054 Posts In Odisha Police Lying Vacant, 3 IPS Officers Serving Outside State For 12 Years: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Altogether, 10,054 posts were lying vacant in the Odisha Police till December 2019, said Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra in the State Assembly on Monday.

The minister, in reply to a question by Congress member Narasingh Mishra, the minister said that of the existing vacancies, 501 are in Group A, 1,823 in Group B, 6,487 in Group C and 1,243 in Group D post. The existing vacancies are out of the 72,119 sanctioned posts while the present staff strength of the Odisha Police is 62,065.

He said efforts are on to fill up the vacant posts through recruitment drives as well as promotions and transfers.

To another question by Congress member Taraprasad Bahinipati, the minister said 78 of  the sanctioned 195 IPS posts in Odisha have fallen vacant.

“At present, 29 state-cadre IPS officers are on central deputation and three among them have been serving outside the state for the last 12 years,” he added.
