1400 People Held For COVID-19 Lockdown Violations, 61 Cases For Abusing ‘Home Quarantine’ Norms In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Stating that 90 per cent of the people in Odisha are abiding by the COVID-19 lockdown guidelines, DGP Abhay on Monday said that 1,605 cases of violations were registered between March 24 and March 30.

The DGP said that the violators have been dealt with firmly with 1400 persons being arrested for lockdown violations, while 61 cases have been registered for breach in the quarantine norms.

“The phase-wise lockdown in Odisha helped the police to prepare the groundwork for implementation. While  700 additional SIs have been deployed at the police station level, 162 platoons have been deployed across the state and a reinforcement of 1000 vehicles made for smooth implementation of the lockdown,” said Odisha DGP.

The cops have been asked to be firm and polite while executing the enforcement, he added.
