Rourkela: Two notorious criminals were injured in a gunfight with police after robbing a roadside dhaba near Bisra police station in Odisha’s Sundargarh district late on Thursday.
They have been identified as Baneswar Singh and Shivanand Singh. Both have been admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital for treatment.
According to sources, four armed miscreants in two motorcycles barged into the dhaba and looted Rs 20,000 at gunpoint.
On being informed, police chased the criminals, who then opened fire on them forcing a retaliation. While two criminals were hit in the leg and were apprehended, two others managed to escape. A manhunt has been launched to nab the duo.
The condition of the dhaba owner, who also sustained bullet injured during the loot, is stated to be stable.
Last month, a notorious criminal sustained a bullet injury in an encounter with police in Rourkela city. The police team was led by inspector in-charge of Bisra police station.
