New Delhi: In the aftermath of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people — most of them tourists — All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on Pakistan and the perpetrators of the violence but also questioned where would India store water after it suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.
He made this remark after attending the all-party meeting convened on Thursday regarding the terror attack. “It is very good that the Indus Water Treaty has been suspended but where will we keep the water?…We have said that this factor must be considered. But whatever action the government will take for safeguarding our people after this cowardly terror attack. We will support whatever decision the central government takes…This is not a political issue…” he added.

“The central government can take action against the nation which shelters the terrorist groups. The international law also permits us to do an air and naval blockade in self-defence against Pakistan and impose sanctions on Pakistan on arms sales,” he also said.
However, Owaisi questioned as to why there was no deployment of CRPF at the attack site. “Why was the CRPF not deployed at the Baisaran meadow?… Why did the quick reaction team take one hour to reach there and they shot people by asking their religion,” he said, adding that the false propaganda being spread regarding Kashmiris and Kashmiri students must stop.
In a social media post, he had also urged Muslims to wear black armbands during Friday prayers on April 25, 2025, to protest the Pahalgam terror attack, signaling unity against foreign forces disrupting India’s peace.
“Pakistan-backed terrorists have launched an attack on our people at Pahalgam, so I urge all muslims to wear black armbands during Friday prayers to condemn the attack. We can’t never allow such terrorists to do such heinous acts using the name of Islam,” he appealed in a video on social media.
