2-Day Bharat Bandh: Know The Spots, Time Where Trade Unions Will Stage Protests In Bhubaneswar Today

Bhubaneswar: The two-day Bharat Bandh on March 28 and 29, called by CITU and other central trade unions, is likely to affect the service, financial, mining, transport and trade sectors in Odisha. The trade unions will stage massive protests at the following places in Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar.

Indian Oil HQ, Chandrasekharpur: 9 am onwards

Bhubaneswar Railway Station: 6 am onwards

East Coast Rail HQ, Chandrasekharpur: 9 am onwards

NALCO HQ, Jayadev Vihar: 9 am onwards

Alok Bharati Tower, BPCL HQ, Sahid Nagar: 9 am onwards

BSNL HQ, Unit-2: 9 am onwards

RBI and SBI HQ, Unit-3: 9 am onwards

Aigenia Chhak, Dumduma: 9 am onwards

OUAT Chhak: 9 am onwards

Speaking to Odisha Bytes, Krushna Chandra Patra, state president of Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), said transactions in banks and insurance companies will be stopped for two days during the bandh.

Similarly, mining operations in the state, particularly in Talcher, Rampur and Brajarajnagar, will also come to a standstill.

The movement of trains, buses and trucks will also be paralysed, and shops and business establishments closed.

However, educational institutions and emergency services like hospitals will not be affected.

As a precaution, however, Utkal University and Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar have postponed examinations scheduled on March 28 and 29. The new dates of the examinations will be announced later.

The Union Power ministry has written to states/UTs and electricity authorities asking them to ensure normal functioning of electricity supply during the 48-hour period.
