2 Persons Critically Injured In Attack Over Past Enmity In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Two persons sustained critical injuries after they were attacked by a group of people over past enmity in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Sunday.

As per reports, the victims, identified as Dipu Pradhan and Papu Pradhan of Khajuripada village under Baideswar police limits of the district, were going on a motorcycle from Khurda to Bhapur.

As they reached Kharadapalli Chhak on the bypass road to Bhapur, a group of around 20 people intercepted them and assaulted them severely. By the time the local people came to the rescue of Dipu and Papu, the attackers had left.

The locals rushed critically injured Dipu and Papu to the community health centre (CHC) in Bhapur. Later, the duo was shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar as their condition deteriorated.

On being informed, a team from Baideswar police station went to the CHC and started investigation. They have also registered a case on the attack on the two persons.

The sources said the attack was the fallout of alleged murder of a sarpanch’s husband around four years back. The assailants were supporters of the sarpanch.
