Bhubaneswar: Two Nepalese minor girls, who were rescued from an alleged trafficking network, flew to Delhi from Bhubaneswar along with two embassy officials on Tuesday.
The girls are set to return to their home country after completion of formalities at the Embassy office in the national capital.
“We have completed legal formalities with the police, district administration and CWC (Child Welfare Committee). They will travel to Nepal after completing the paperwork at our Delhi office,” a Nepal Embassy staff accompanying the girls told a local news channel.
He also urged Nepali people to be careful of cross border trafficking scams luring them with fake job promises and inform the authorities in their country before moving abroad.
Two officials from the Embassy of Nepal had arrived in Odisha on Saturday to coordinate the safe repatriation of the two 17-year-old girls. The minors were allegedly lured from Nepal to Kolkara in March with false promises of employment, but were being forced into prostitution.
A youth named Rakesh from Nayagarh district in Odisha rescued them from traffickers in Kolkata and brought them to Bhubaneswar, where they sought assistance from the Nepal Embassy. Acting on the embassy’s information, Chandrasekharpur police rescued them from a hotel at Patia and placed them under the care of CWC till Nepal Embassy officials arrived.
