New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned Monday’s attack on the oil facility at Fujairah, UAE, in which three Indians were injured.

“Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable,” Modi posted on X.

“India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy,” he added.

The PM also said that ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is “vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security”.

Earlier in the day, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly condemned the attack, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities and urging restraint in the region.

It highlighted the need to protect civilian infrastructure and ensure stability across West Asia.
“The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable,” the MEA said, reacting to the drone strike at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ).

“We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians,” it said.

India reiterated its long-standing position, emphasising diplomacy as the only viable path forward amid rising tensions.

“India continues to stand for dialogue and diplomacy to deal with the situation, so that peace and stability may be restored across West Asia,” the MEA statement mentioned.

It also stressed the importance of maintaining open sea lanes in accordance with international law.

“We also call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in keeping with international law,” the statement said, signalling concerns over potential disruptions to global oil shipments.

India also reiterated its readiness to support efforts aimed at de-escalation and conflict resolution.

“India stands ready to support all efforts for a peaceful resolution of issues,” the MEA said.

The attack marks an escalation in the region, with the UAE reporting missile and drone threats and activating its air defence systems.

The UAE said that multiple aerial threats were intercepted, while civil defence operations continued at the site of the fire, as reported by News18.

Air traffic was also disrupted due to the incident, with several flights diverted as a precautionary measure.

Authorities in the UAE urged residents to follow official safety advisories and avoid spreading unverified information.
