Jajpur: Two contacts of Kolkata returnees and one person, who had recently travelled to the City of Joy, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
With these new cases, the affected tally in Odisha has gone up to 148.
The I & PR Department has identified them as a 30- year-old man of Beherapatana with travel history to Kolkata. A 55-year-old man from Birajapur and a 75-year-old woman from Katikata are contacts of Kolkata returnees who had earlier tested positive for the virus.
Jajpur now has 39 COVID cases and one among them has recovered from the disease.
On Thursday, 14 positive cases were detected in the district and three the previous day. Katikara village, which is a containment zone, alone has reported 21 of these cases. Most of the cases in the district have been linked to West Bengal.

Jajpur is now only second to Khurda in terms of the number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha. The Khurda district has reported 47 cases with a majority of them being detected in Bhubaneswar, while Balasore (20) and Bhadrak (19) share third and fourth places respectively.
