2023, Year Of Many Firsts For Birthday Boy Sidharth Malhotra

The year 2023 will be a momentous one for Sidharth ‘Shershaah’ Malhotra who turns 38 today. Not only is he making his OTT debut with Rohit Shetty’s ‘Indian Police Force’ this year, but he is also very likely to get married to his longtime girlfriend Kiara Advani. He is also set for his first release of the year, ‘Mission Majnu’ in which the actor plays an Indian spy in Pakistan in this inspired-by-real-life tale set in the 1970s.

With his tall frame, an impressive baritone, hairstyle and brooding looks, many people likened him to Amitabh Bachchan when he made his debut in Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’ in 2012. This has not happened till now but the Delhi boy has surely carved a niche for himself in the industry having delivered several hit films. He had earlier assisted Karan Johar in 2010 during the making of ‘My Name Is Khan.’ Malhotra went on to star in commercially successful films such as Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), Ek Villain (2014) and Kapoor & Sons (2016). Following a career downturn, came Shershaah in 2021, earning a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Apart from that, he has been the Brand Ambassador for New Zealand tourism in India for two consecutive years (2015-16, 2016-17).

Malhotra made his foray into the glamour world with modelling and was the second runner-up in the famous Gladrags Manhunt and Mega-model pageant.

He is very interested in sports like Rugby & Basketball and has also played for the Delhi Hurricanes Rugby team.

The actor recently spoke to Hindustan Times about what makes Mission Majnu so unique that it will stand out?  Here’s his reply: “The tonality of it! This is a spy genre which is not taking that in-your-fae hero approach. I don’t even use guns in the film. There is one action piece where he is using a gun because in reality, it would defeat the purpose if he was going out killing everybody. I really love the way they would work on information gathering, which is more of trial and error. That is the USP. It has an emotional graph for sure. It is not an out-and-out action film like James Bond or Ek Tha Tiger, where they are blasting things around. I think it makes for a fresher watch.”
