Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department has forecast heat wave to severe heat wave conditions at isolated places in 21 districts of north Interior and adjoining south interior and some districts of coastal Odisha for the next two days .
The IMD stated in its bulletin that dry westerly winds prevailing in the lower levels and local heating and contraction of dry air near surface level is likely to give rise to heat wave conditions.
Orange warning has been issued for Sundargarh,Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak and
Balasore.
In the past 24 hours, Baripada was the hottest at 44.6 degree Celsius. It was followed by Talcher 42.7 C, Boudh 42.5 C, Jharsuguda and Balangir 42.2 C, Titlagarh 42 C, Angul 41.9 C, Sonepur 41.8 C, Nayagarh 41.7 C, Balasore and Hirakud 41.4 C and Sambalpur 41.3 C.
There will be no large change in maximum (day) temperature during next two days i.e till April 2 and thereafter it will fall gradually by 2-4 degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha.
The regional meteorological centre said that maximum temperature is very likely to rise by 4-6 degree Celsius at many places during next two days, the IMD bulletin stated.
