Puri: All religious institutions in Odisha’s Puri district will remain out of bounds for devotees till May 15.
The Puri administration took this decision amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the district, which added 226 new infections in the last 24 hours. Puri now has 2176 active cases.
All temples, mutts, mosques, and churches will remain closed for devotees till May 15, Puri sub-collector Bhabataran Sahoo said.
“The daily rituals will be conducted with a limited number of priests in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines. A decision on reopening the religious places will be taken after reviewing the situation post-May 15,” he added.
This came two days after the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) announced that there will be no public darshan at the 12th-century shrine till May 15.
