Berhampur: Total 2,630 Agniveers, including 396 women, of the Indian Navy passed out from the INS Chilika in Odisha, in a ceremonial passing out parade held under the aegis of Southern Naval Command on Friday.
The parade was reviewed by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, in the presence of Vice Admiral V Srinivas, the Flag Officer Commanding-in -Chief, Southern Naval Command.
The passing out parade marked not only successful culmination of 16 weeks of ab-initio rigorous naval training, but also the start of a new voyage for the trainees in the Indian Navy.
In his address, Admiral Kumar urged the trainees to hone their skills further and develop a strong foundation of knowledge, willingness to learn and commitment to excel in their respective careers that lay ahead. He told them to uphold the Indian Navy’s core values of duty, honour and courage, in pursuit of nation building.
He also awarded medals and trophies to the meritorious Agniveers on the occasion. He gave away the overall Championship Trophy to Angad Division and Runners Up Trophy to Shivaji Division. He unveiled the summer edition of Ankur – the bilingual trainees’ magazine of INS Chilika.
